Devoted Husband and Father
Jason lives in Candler Park with his wife Kate, their two sons Henry and Thomas, and their 100-pound dog, Jolene.
Meet Kate Carter
Kate and Jason met 14 years ago at Duke University. After graduating from Duke Kate spent a year teaching English in the Dominican Republic and then received a Masters Degree in Journalism from Columbia University.
Kate is an award-winning journalist and spent several years as a reporter for the Athens Banner-Herald. She received the 2002 Beacon Award from the Georgia School Boards Assocation for her coverage of K-12 education, and she also has received several awards from the Georgia Associated Press Association for her reporting. After leaving Athens, Kate served as an editor at the Atlanta Business Chronicle where she focused on business trends and strategies. She also served on the Metro Atlanta Chamber board that selects the Atlanta Small Business Person of the Year.
As an educator, Kate has taught journalism at the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and at Kennesaw State University. She was the editorial adviser for the students who publish The Red & Black, UGA's independent, student newspaper. She now teaches journalism at Grady High School, and serves as one of the advisers of Grady's award-winning student paper, The Southerner.
Kate was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. And while some may consider Kate's allegiance to the Florida Gators an imperfection, Jason has learned to love it.
